Let me paint

Let me paint you an image,

No canvas,

Just give me your palm and all that is beyond your wrist,

I have little concern with the scars you bear,

For your incisions shall guide my paintbrush,

And I shall paint for you a masterpiece,

With a tale hidden in its midst.

The tale of a beauty far from the norm:

Cerulean for your tears,

And we shall name it the sea.

Crimson for your blood soaked lips,

And we shall name it the sunset.

Black for your tousled tresses,

With strands of age fusing through them,

And I’m naming it a star studded sky!

Let me paint you an image,

Now lend me the back of your palm.

With each gliding stroke of this brush I hold,

A galaxy I will create,

With every colour in my box,

I will create a joyful, distant land,

One that will dry those falling waters,

Lifting your lips to form a smile,

As you gaze at your beautiful hands.

So when sadness comes to call,

And you lift your palms to view your world,

When you flip them over to wipe those tears,

Your galaxy of joy will heal it all!
